Hi, Dr Murray here from Absolute Cosmetic. Today I want to talk about the cost of liposuction in Perth, because it’s one of the questions I get asked more than almost anything else. And the honest answer is simple really: it’s time.
We’re a fully health department licensed and credentialed clinic, and that adds to our overheads. But it also adds to your safety, which matters more than the invoice at the end of the day.
What actually determines the cost of liposuction?
The cost of liposuction comes down to three things: the procedure we use, the areas we treat, and the time it takes. We look at what technique is right for you, whether that’s ultrasonic assisted lipo (VASER), J-Plasma Renuvion for skin tightening, or Vibrasat to help move things along. There’s more than one way to approach a treatment plan, and it’s worth understanding the different types of liposuction before you settle on one. Then we look at the areas involved, and we look at the equipment and wholesale costs that sit behind all of it.
It sounds simple because it is, but each of those three things pulls the final number around quite a bit, which is why no two quotes ever look the same.
Why does liposuction pricing vary so much from person to person?
Liposuction pricing varies because every body is different, and we use premium equipment that can add to overall costs. Vibrasat, for instance, is an expensive piece of German equipment. I actually don’t usually charge for it separately, because it makes the procedure more efficient, but it’s still sitting there in the background of our costs.
The Renuvion probes are the same story. They’re very expensive for our clinic to stock, which is part of why the first area of skin tightening carries a higher price than the ones that follow.
And then there’s the licensing and credentialing side of things. Running a fully accredited clinic with the right nurses, the right setup and the right safety standards costs more than a bare-bones operation. That’s baked into the price too, and it’s not something I’d want to cut corners on.
How do you know if you’re a small, medium, large or extra-large case?
You can get a rough idea of your own pricing by being honest about your size and the amount of fat involved. The basic premise here is that we look at you and go: are you small, medium, large, or extra-large? For example,if a patient is 60 kilos with a small amount of excess fat in their target area, it’s not going to be the same price as a patient who is130 kilos with a large amount of excess fat in their target area.
This initial pricing guide based on size isnot a precise science from a distance, but it gives you a starting point before you come in for a proper assessment. If you want a better sense of what’s realistic for your own size and target areas, our before and after gallery shows real results across a range of body types.
What does liposuction actually cost, area by area?
Liposuction at Absolute Cosmetic starts at $2,200 per area, and the price builds from there depending on what you add to it. Here’s how the additions generally stack up, from the base procedure through to the more involved options:
- Base liposuction – starts at $2,200 per area.
- VASER (ultrasound assisted lipo) – we usually add $1,100 on top for this.
- Renuvion skin tightening – the first area is the most expensive, at $3,300, because of how costly the probes are for us to buy.
Once you get past about three areas, we do start packaging the price down. You’re already there, we’ve already got the setup and the nurses in place, so we can afford to bring the per-area cost down from that point on. The same goes if you’re doing a lot of areas with Renuvion. It gets noticeably cheaper the more you add, once that first probe cost is covered.
Does the price include aftercare?
Yes, and it should, because good aftercare is essential to a safe result. This is one of the biggest problems I see with tourist surgery or travel surgery: patients come home and have no one to look after them. Six weeks out is usually when problems hit, and that’s exactly the point where overseas clinics have already moved on to the next patient.
At Absolute Cosmetic, that aftercare is part of what you’re paying for. We run a 24 hour, seven day a week, 365 day a year emergency after-hours line, so there’s always someone to call. You’ll also have video calls available with our nurses, and we book you in regularly through your recovery, usually day one, day two, one week, two weeks, three weeks and four weeks. Some patients also add supportive treatments like lymphatic drainage therapy during this window, to help manage swelling and keep things moving along comfortably.
Good aftercare is important, but it isn’t free. It’s a genuine cost, and it’s one I’d never want to cut to make a quote look more attractive on paper.
Is cheaper liposuction ever worth it?
Not if it means losing the safety net that comes with proper licensing and aftercare. A lower price almost always means something has been left out, whether that’s the equipment, the nursing support, or the follow-up care in the weeks after surgery. When you’re comparing quotes, it’s worth asking exactly what’s included rather than just looking at the headline number.
Frequently asked questions
How much does liposuction cost in Perth?
Liposuction at Absolute Cosmetic starts at $2,200 per area, with the final price depending on your size, the number of areas treated, and whether you add VASER or Renuvion skin tightening.
Why does liposuction pricing vary so much between clinics?
Pricing varies because of the equipment used, the licensing and credentialing of the clinic, and the level of aftercare included. Cheaper quotes often leave one of these out.
Does adding VASER to my liposuction increase the cost?
Yes, VASER (ultrasound assisted lipo) is usually an additional $1,100 on top of the base liposuction price.
Why is the first area of Renuvion skin tightening more expensive?
The first Renuvion area costs $3,300 because the probes required for the procedure are expensive for us to purchase. Additional areas become more cost-effective from there.
Does the cost of liposuction include aftercare?
Yes. Aftercare, including 24/7 emergency support and scheduled nurse reviews over the following weeks, is built into the overall cost and is not an area worth skimping on.
Does doing more areas at once make liposuction cheaper per area?
Generally yes. After about three areas, pricing is often packaged down, since the clinic setup and nursing team are already in place for your visit.
