The process begins by applying baby oil to the targeted treatment areas. The infrared handpiece then smoothly glides over the skin, gently and precisely heating the deeper layers to a temperature range of 39 to 42 degrees.
What is Near Infrared (NIR) Skin Tightening?
Near-infrared (NIR) skin tightening helps naturally stimulate collagen production and reduce signs of aging, skin laxity, and crepiness. This is a non-surgical, non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment, which can help your skin appear brighter and firmer after a course of treatments.
The NIR treatment involves minimal to no downtime and typically takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the treated area. Unlike many chemical peels, laser resurfacing, and skin needling procedures, NIR technology does not impact the outer layer of the skin, allowing you to return to the office immediately after your session.

How does NIR Skin Tightening work?
NIR uses infrared light energy to penetrate the tissue under the skin surface, in the deeper layers of the skin. The light energy heats the water in the skin tissue and causes the collagen fibres to contract and tighten. It also stimulates fibroblasts to repair skin cells, which helps smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.
Where can NIR treatment be used?
NIR has both a face and body handpiece, which means the treatment can be used on multiple areas depending on your concerns. Common areas to be treated on the face include chin and jowls, crows feet (Lateral Canthal Lines), forehead, neck and décolletage. Common areas for treatment on the body include the upper arms, hands, abdomen and thighs.
Is the NIR Skin Tightening treatment painful?
The treatment shouldn’t be painful, though the building of heat may be slightly uncomfortable at times.
Who is a suitable candidate
NIR is suitable for all skin types, meaning most people are suitable candidates for this treatment. The only people who may not get their desired results would have extremely poor skin laxity pre-treatment.
How many treatments are recommended?
3-6 treatments, with 2-3 week intervals between treatments. Few people need up to 8 treatments.
