PDO Threads Perth

Available at all Absolute Cosmetic locations, PDO Mono threads are a non-invasive treatment method that helps to produce and increase collagen production within the skin. In addition to an effective collagen boost, mono threads stimulate a skin tightening and remodelling effect in the areas treated. The results are long-lasting rejuvenation of the skin, delaying the natural ageing process by 9-12 months.

What Areas Can Be Treated with PDO Mono Threads?

PDO Mono Threads are a minimally invasive treatment designed to stimulate collagen, improve skin texture, and tighten areas of mild to moderate laxity. At Absolute Cosmetic, our experienced practitioners use PDO threads to rejuvenate a wide range of facial and body areas.

Cheeks – Improve skin firmness and support areas of volume loss.

Jawline – Enhance definition and reduce mild sagging along the lower face.

Neck – Tighten and smooth crepey or lax skin for a more refined neck contour.

Under-Eye Area – Strengthen thin, delicate skin and reduce the appearance of hollowness.

Nasolabial Folds and Marionette Lines – Stimulate collagen to soften lines running from the nose and mouth

Forehead and Brow – Improve skin texture and provide a subtle lifting effect in the upper face.

Abdomen – Enhance skin quality following weight loss or pregnancy.

Alternative PDO Thread Treatments For Lifting

In addition to PDO Mono Threads for skin tightening, Absolute Cosmetic offers a variety of other non-invasive treatments targeting different skin concerns, including non-surgical thread lifts to rejuvenate the skin and help lift facial features and non-surgical nose modifications using PDO Threads.

What are PDO Mono threads?

PDO Mono threads are a minimally invasive non-surgical thread and absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) suture. They have a 30 year safety track record for use in orthopedic and cardiovascular surgery and wound disclosure. The brand we use at Absolute Cosmetic is included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) and supported by clinical studies for efficacy.

When will I see results and how long will they last?

While the tightening effect is immediate following insertion of threads, on average most patients will notice results 6-8 weeks post-treatment.

Results will vary with all treatments, including PDO Mono Threads. On average, results for this treatment will last 9-12 months.

What to expect during your PDO Threads Appointment

Personalised Assessment

Every PDO Mono Thread treatment at Absolute Cosmetic begins with a personalised consultation. During this assessment, your practitioner will evaluate your skin condition, discuss your concerns, and determine the most suitable treatment plan. Factors such as skin laxity, treatment area, and the number of threads required will be considered to achieve optimal and natural-looking results.

Comfort Measures

To ensure your comfort throughout the procedure, a topical numbing cream or local nerve block is applied approximately 30 minutes before treatment. While numbing is not strictly necessary, it is strongly recommended to minimise any discomfort and help you feel at ease during the session.

The Treatment

Once the area is numbed, Polydioxanone (PDO) Mono Threads are inserted individually beneath the skin using fine treatments. These threads form a vectorial mesh, acting as an internal support structure that helps lift and tighten the skin. The process is minimally invasive and typically takes 15 to 40 minutes, depending on the area being treated and the number of threads used.

Results

The treatment provides an immediate firming and tightening effect due to the mechanical support of the threads. Over time, the body naturally responds by increasing collagen production around the threads. The threads dissolve gradually over 3 to 4 months, but the regenerative effects continue to develop, with peak results visible around 2 to 3 months post-treatment. Patients often experience smoother, firmer skin and a noticeable improvement in texture and tone.

Aftercare

Post-treatment, mild swelling or bruising may occur and typically resolves within a few days. It’s advised to avoid strenuous activity, facial massages, or excessive facial movements for at least 7 days. Your practitioner will provide tailored aftercare advice to support healing and enhance results. No downtime is required, and most patients can resume normal activities shortly after the procedure.

Post Treatment Care

  • Bruising creams can help reduce the amount of bruising you may experience. Talk to your practitioner about the options available to you.
  • To reduce swelling and inflammation, ice can be applied for a few hours following your treatment.
  • Paracetamol can be taken if needed.
  • Avoid sudden movements, opening your mouth too wide, laughing excessively, or other stimulation of the facial muscles, for the next few days.
  • The area should not be massaged for the next month (included facials).
  • The treated area can be washed gently after 5 hours following treatment.
  • Avoid saunas and other heat devices near the face following treatment.
  • Oxygenetix Foundation is formulated for use post-procedure. This foundation can be used following treatment, if applied gently, to conceal redness and to aid healing.
  • Avoid heavy make-up for at least 3 days post procedure – We suggest avoiding any make-up for a minimum of 3 days.

Risk & Complications

PDO Mono Thread treatments may involve certain risks. Patients can experience temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, or a feeling of tightness in the treated area. Mild dimpling, puckering, or thread visibility may occur while the skin adjusts, and small entry point marks are expected during the healing phase. Less commonly, infection, allergic reactions, or prolonged irregularities can develop. Individual responses vary, and further treatments may sometimes be required to achieve the desired outcome.
