What is Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is the process of whitening discoloured tooth enamel. By combining a bleaching gel to your teeth and apply a whitening LED light, this process will whiten the teeth by 5-14 shades.
Teeth whitening targets extrinsic stains. Hydrogen Peroxide is used to break down the stains while O2 molecules enter the enamel and dentin to break apart any extrinsic stains revealing a lighter tooth colour.
A consultation is required before having this treatment, even if you have this teeth whitening treatment elsewhere prior.
Teeth whitening is currently available at our Nedlands and Perth CBD Raine Square clinics.

What are the different types of stains?
- Extrinsic Stains Occur on the outer surface of the tooth enamel and are usually caused by external factors such as food, beverages (red wine, coffee), tobacco, and poor hygiene.
- Intrinsic Stains Occur within the tooth’s structure, usually beginning with tooth development or other factors such as trauma, certain medications, and the ageing process, which can cause the dentin layer to become more visible.
