Breast Implant Cost in Perth: What You’re Actually Paying For

22 Sep 2026

How do we work out the cost of breast implants here at Absolute Cosmetic in Perth? Breast implant cost isn’t some mystery number we pull out of thin air. It comes down to three things:

  1. How long the operation takes
  2. Which implant you choose; and
  3. How much aftercare you need.

Why does breast implant cost vary so much between clinics?

The short answer is: time. Everything in surgery these days is based on time, and we’re a cosmetic credentialed and licensed day surgery, which means we carry extra overheads. We have fully trained staff on hand for your safety, and if a procedure takes longer, it usually costs more. That’s really the whole story behind why one quote looks different from another. A clinic that’s cutting corners on staffing, accreditation or aftercare can obviously charge less, but you’re not comparing like with like.

What’s the difference in cost between above the muscle, subfascial and dual-plane placement?

Above the muscle is the quickest and most straightforward, so it’s the cheaper end of the spectrum. Subfascial takes a bit longer, so it costs a bit more. Dual-plane is the most involved technique and sits at the top of the price range.

Let me break each one down:

  • Above the muscle. This is a reasonably quick and straightforward procedure. The implant sits above the pectoral muscle and beneath your own breast tissue. Because it’s faster to perform, it’s the more affordable option. You can read more about over-the-muscle placement and how we decide who’s a good fit for it.
  • Subfascial. This is where we peel the fascia, the thin connective layer that sits over the muscle, and place it over the implant instead. It takes a little longer than going straight above the muscle, so it costs a little more.
  • Below the muscle. I don’t actually offer this surgery anymore. Worldwide, surgeons are finding it comes with too many complications. Some people disagree with me on this, and that’s fine, but it’s not a technique I offer.
  • Dual-plane. This is where we cut the muscle so the implant sits half above and half below. It takes the pressure off the implant, which in my experience means less rupturing and less “double bubble” down the track. It’s more technically demanding and takes longer, so it’s the most expensive of the placement options. To me, though, the trade-off is worth it for the long-term result.

Does the implant brand affect the price?

Yes, and this is the second biggest factor for pricing after placement technique. We really only use two implant brands: German-made Polytech implants, and Motiva. Both are more expensive than older, more basic options, and the more premium implant you choose, the more your overall breast implant cost will be.

I’ve always said, “don’t be the first or the last to try something new.” Newer products need to prove themselves over time, so it pays to be a little cautious with anything brand new to the market rather than jumping straight in because it’s trending.

Is aftercare included in the cost, and why does it matter?

Yes, and it’s actually one of the most important parts of what you’re paying for. We see patients on day one, day two, one week, two weeks, three weeks and four weeks after surgery. People genuinely don’t realise how important aftercare is. In my view, aftercare is more important than the surgery itself when it comes to complications. When a package looks suspiciously affordable, it’s almost always because proper aftercare isn’t built in, and aftercare is expensive to do properly.

At Absolute Cosmetic, good aftercare includes a 24 hour, seven day a week, 365 day a year emergency after-hours line, plus video call access to our nursing team between your in-person reviews. That level of support costs money to provide, but it’s there because it genuinely changes outcomes.

How can I make sure I’m getting an accurate breast implant cost quote?

Ask for a breakdown by placement technique, implant brand and aftercare schedule, not just one lump figure. A proper quote should separate out the surgical fee, the implant cost and the follow-up care, so you can see exactly what you’re paying for at each stage. If a clinic can’t or won’t break it down like that, that’s worth asking more questions about.

It also helps to have your consultation first. Every patient’s anatomy is different, and the right placement technique for you isn’t always the cheapest one. I’d rather talk you through what suits your body and your goals, then let the pricing follow from that conversation, than have you pick a technique or implant brand off a price list.

In summary

To recap: we charge based on time. Above the muscle is usually the cheaper option, subfascial costs a little more, and dual-plane is the most expensive of the placement techniques because of the extra work involved. On top of that, your choice of implant, whether that’s Polytech or Motiva, will affect the final number. And aftercare, which runs from day one right through to four weeks post-op with 24/7 emergency support, is built into the price because it’s what actually protects your result.

If you’d like a personalised, itemised quote based on your own anatomy and goals, the best next step is a consultation. Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the cheapest type of breast implant placement?

Above the muscle is generally the most affordable placement technique because it’s quicker and more straightforward to perform than subfascial or dual-plane.

Why is dual-plane breast augmentation more expensive?

Dual-plane involves cutting the muscle so the implant sits partly above and partly below it, which takes more time and skill, but it also can reduce pressure on the implant and therefore  the risk of rupture and double bubble long-term.

Does the implant brand change the overall cost?

Yes. Polytech and Motiva implants both carry a strong safety profile, but they cost more than older, more basic implants, so your choice of brand will affect your final breast implant cost.

Is aftercare included in the price of breast augmentation?

At Absolute Cosmetic, yes. Aftercare includes reviews at day one, day two, one week, two weeks, three weeks and four weeks, plus a 24/7 emergency after-hours line and nurse video calls.

How do I get an accurate quote for breast implants?

Book a consultation so your placement technique, implant choice and aftercare needs can be assessed individually, then ask for an itemised breakdown rather than a single all-in figure.
