What is Lymphatic & Compression Therapy?

The lymphatic system plays an important role in removing excess fluid and waste products from the body. Following surgery, injury or certain medical conditions, lymphatic drainage can become less efficient, leading to swelling, fluid retention and discomfort.

Lymphatic & Compression Therapy uses the Lympha Press® system, a specialised compression garment that gently inflates and deflates in a programmed sequence. This sequential compression encourages healthy lymphatic flow and circulation, helping to support the body’s natural recovery process.

Treatment is comfortable, relaxing and completely non-invasive, with no downtime required.

What to Expect

Your appointment will begin with a consultation to confirm the treatment area and ensure Lymphatic & Compression Therapy is appropriate for your individual needs.

Once you’re comfortably positioned, you’ll be fitted with a specialised Lympha Press® compression garment designed for the area being treated. The garment uses sequential compression technology, gently inflating and deflating in a programmed sequence to apply controlled pressure to different sections of the body. This rhythmic compression helps encourage healthy lymphatic flow and circulation while supporting the body’s natural recovery process.

Most patients describe the sensation as a gentle, massage-like treatment that is both comfortable and relaxing.

Treatment sessions typically last 30–60 minutes, depending on the treatment area and your personalised treatment plan. There is no downtime following treatment, allowing you to return to your normal daily activities immediately after your appointment.

The number and frequency of treatments recommended will depend on your individual goals, medical history and whether therapy is being performed as part of a post-operative recovery plan or ongoing supportive care. Your practitioner will discuss the most appropriate treatment plan during your consultation.

Yes. Lymphatic & Compression Therapy is commonly recommended following cosmetic surgery to help manage swelling and support recovery. Your treating practitioner will advise when it is appropriate to commence treatment based on your procedure and stage of healing.

Lymphatic & Compression Therapy may help support patients living with lipedema by encouraging lymphatic flow, reducing swelling and improving comfort. It is not a cure for lipedema but may form part of a broader management plan developed with your treating healthcare professionals.

Lymphatic & Compression Therapy may not be suitable for patients with certain medical conditions, including active infection, untreated deep vein thrombosis (DVT), severe peripheral arterial disease, acute heart failure, or other unmanaged medical conditions.
