At Absolute Cosmetic, we understand that deciding whether to pursue a surgical or non-surgical body contouring option is a personal decision and often depends on a range of individual factors. This blog is not intended to suggest that one approach is better or necessary for everyone.
Some individuals may prefer a surgical approach, particularly if they have significant skin laxity or have experienced major weight changes. Others may be seeking a non-surgical or minimally invasive option that aligns more closely with their goals and preferences.
In appropriate cases, Power-Assisted Liposuction combined with Renuvion skin tightening may offer an alternative to more invasive procedures.
Understanding Liposuction and Renuvion
Liposuction is a technique that removes localised fat deposits via small incisions using a cannula. At Absolute Cosmetic, we use Power-Assisted Liposuction, including VASER Pro and Vibrasat® Pro, which allow for a more controlled and precise fat removal process.
Renuvion is a device that combines radiofrequency energy with helium plasma to deliver heat beneath the skin. This thermal effect is designed to stimulate collagen contraction and remodelling, potentially leading to visible skin tightening over time.
When performed together, these procedures may assist in contouring the abdominal region while also improving the appearance of mild to moderate skin laxity, without large surgical scars.
Who Might Be Suitable for Liposuction with Skin Tightening?
This approach may be appropriate for individuals who:
-
Are generally close to their ideal weight
-
Have mild to moderate laxity of the abdominal skin
-
Have good skin elasticity and tone
-
Are primarily concerned with fat distribution rather than skin folds
-
Prefer to avoid more invasive surgical procedures
What This Approach Does Not Do
It is important to understand that liposuction, even with skin-tightening technology, does not remove large amounts of loose skin. For patients with significant laxity, such as that which can occur after pregnancy or major weight loss, a surgical consultation may still be required. Our team can guide you toward the most suitable treatment option based on your anatomy and treatment goals.
Recovery and Results
Power-Assisted Liposuction and Renuvion are typically performed under sedation or local anaesthesia in our accredited day hospital. Patients wear compression garments following the procedure to support the area as it heals.
While individual results vary, many patients begin to notice a change in contour over several weeks. The full effect of skin contraction from Renuvion may continue to develop over a 3 to 6-month period as collagen remodelling occurs.
Below is an example of a patient who underwent Lipo 360, a treatment approach where liposuction is performed around the entire abdominal region, including the flanks and lower back.

Before and 6 months after. Vaser Liposuction to sacral fat pad, upper and lower abdominal, rib cage, bra strap & waist. Outcomes are specific to this patient. Individual outcomes can vary due to factors such as genetics, diet, age, exercise, lifestyle, weight, and overall health.
