What is a Capsulectomy?

- The capsule has become firm or uncomfortable
- The breast has changed shape due to tightening of the capsule
- Fluid has collected around the implant and needs to be tested
- You are replacing or removing implants, particularly older or textured models
There are different approaches:
- Partial capsulectomy – removing the front portion of the capsule
- Total capsulectomy – removing the entire capsule
- En bloc capsulectomy – removing the implant and capsule together (used in certain circumstances)
