What is a Temporal Brow Lift?

24 Apr 2025

Gradual changes in the position of the brow can occur over time due to ageing, sun exposure, and genetics. These changes may lead some individuals to seek procedures that support the outer brow area and help reduce the appearance of heaviness in the upper eyelids. One option that may be considered is a temporal brow lift.

What Is a Lateral Temporal Brow Lift?

A lateral temporal brow lift, commonly referred to as a temporal brow lift, is a surgical procedure that focuses on elevating the outer (lateral) part of the eyebrow. This approach differs from a full brow lift, which typically addresses the entire forehead.

This procedure may be discussed with individuals experiencing changes in the outer brow or upper eyelid region who are seeking to support this area without undergoing a full forehead lift. During a consultation at Absolute Cosmetic, Dr. Murray will conduct a full assessment of the brow area, including a discussion of your medical history and aesthetic goals, to determine if this procedure may be suitable.

How Is a Temporal Brow Lift Performed?

This procedure is usually performed under local anaesthetic with twilight sedation. Small incisions are made discreetly within the hairline at the temples. Through these incisions, the underlying tissue is adjusted and the outer brow is gently elevated.

As the incisions are placed within the hair-bearing region, they are often well concealed after healing. Sutures are used to secure the brow in its new position, and the incisions are carefully closed to minimise visible scarring.

Temporal Brow Lift Cost

At Absolute Cosmetic, treatment plans are personalised, and the cost of a temporal brow lift may vary depending on the complexity of the procedure, the type of anaesthetic used, and the location of the surgery. As a general guide, pricing starts from $2,200, excluding theatre fees, post-surgical garments or creams, and post-operative medications.

An exact cost will be outlined at your consultation with Dr. Murray. A financial consent form will also be provided to ensure you have a clear understanding of any associated fees before confirming your booking.

Temporal Brow Lift Recovery

Recovery following a temporal brow lift will differ between individuals. Swelling and bruising around the temples or upper face may occur in the initial days after surgery. Most people are able to resume light daily activities within several days; however, strenuous exercise should be avoided until cleared by your treating practitioner.

Sutures are generally removed within 5 to 7 days, and you will receive specific post-operative care instructions to support healing and minimise downtime. As with all surgical procedures, potential risks and recovery expectations will be discussed thoroughly at your consultation.
